Estrella Tonantzin Lopez

Estrella Tonantzin Lopez is a graduate of the University of Southern California's (USC) Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences's Global Studies Department. Estrella graduated from USC Cum Laude and with full financial support. Estrella brings her sharp intellectual knowledge and analysis to her work in communication. Estrella gained training from national communications leaders in Washington DC and New York while she was working with a Maya organization serving Mayan refugees and asylum seekers. Her work with Indigenous migrants and communications supporting policy and advocacy work by Indigenous leaders has informed her understandings of how to properly and respectfully communicate about international Indigenous issues and migration. Besides English, Estrella speaks Spanish and studied Korean language and Asian history. Her father was a migrant farmworker with roots in Zacatecas and both of her parents have kinship ties and tribal affiliations across borders.
